Project overview
Multiroom Solutions was appointed by Kindred Nurseries to support their national portfolio expansion with a series of new modular buildings across multiple sites. Cambourne Nursery School in Cambridgeshire was the first of these projects to move forward.
Kindred needed to increase capacity on a tight site with considerable spatial coordination and construction logistic challenges. Following a full feasibility assessment, we proposed a lightweight steel frame system, a permanent structure that balanced long-term performance with rapid delivery.
Our approach
We carried out an initial feasibility assessment which informed our end-to-end design and procurement process. This included:
Advising on lease arrangements and coordinating an appropriate extension
Identifying site-specific planning and construction constraints
Recommending the most appropriate building system for the site
Thanks to our open-market procurement strategy, Kindred secured a permanent, 24-place modular nursery building at below average market cost.
The outcome
The new Cambourne building was delivered on time and on budget, tailored to the operational needs of the nursery, and designed to suit the planning and logistical constraints of the site.
We have assisted in delivering a sustainably sourced inclusive learning environment which sets the standard for local and regional nursery accommodation.
